Chinese American Service League
The Chinese American Service League ("CASL") is the largest, most comprehensive social service agency in the Midwest dedicated to serving the needs of Chinese Americans. At CASL, we welcome all who walk through our doors regardless of age, gender and race. The Chinatown Pro Bono Legal Clinic runs once a month on the 2nd Saturday of the month. Our cases run a wide range, including family law; family immigration, torts, housing, landlord-tenant, contracts, commercial fraud, and personal bankruptcy.
We welcome attorneys in all areas of practice. During the clinic, volunteers will interview clients through student interpreters, gather facts, issue spot, do on-the-spot research (legal or just informational), inform and advise clients during the clinic. Sometimes volunteer attorneys help write simple demand letters or inquiries during the clinic. Volunteers also help with referrals with the referral information provided by the clinic. Pro-bono representation is always encouraged, but not required.
For attorneys to attend our clinic, simply need to fill out the registration form and email to Chicagolegalclinic@caslservice.org (specify language ability such as Mandarin vs. Cantonese, if any (though not required).
